Send Your Thoughts and Prayers to Anne (Ainsobriety)

Fort MacMurray, Anne's home town in on fire today. Wildfires have spread very quickly, and the whole town is currently being evacuated.

So far there are no reports of any casualties, but many properties have been completely destroyed, including schools, gas stations and whole suburbs. The fire is not yet contained, but many fire crews are on the ground.

I emailed Anne earlier, before we were aware of the severity of the situation but clearly she has far more important things to do.

Anne is such an important member of our community, I know that you all will be sending positive thoughts and prayers her way.

If I hear anything further, I'll post it here,

Jackie.xx

PS. Apparently everyone is being evacuated to a Suncor Camp - they have room and infrastructure to cope with all the evacuees.

  1. Oh no. Thank you for letting us know. Anne was one of the first people to reach out to me when I started blogging. She is special to me and I'll be thinking positive thoughts for her and her family. What a horrible thing.

    1. Ripleybelle so glad you experienced the same as a lot of us and just echoes what Jackie is saying. Anne seems to always be the first to send a kind word a note of encouragement and a little forgiveness when we can't forgive ourselves. I am glad you had that first contact and that you are here still. I love that you remember that and that she is so special to you.

  3. Similar to Ripleybelle Anne was one of my first contacts and seems unfair that the universe has come close with something seemingly so negative. I hope Anne and all her family are safe but that all the other families in the area are ok. Thanks for letting us know Jackie, hopefully our collective good wishes will conspire to somehow change Mother Nature's whim. Sending positive wishes.

    1. I hope so! Latest news is that all the town is evacuated safely, including the hospital. About 600 homes have been lost and the next 24 hours will be critical, as Fort Mac is expecting high temperatures and winds. However, the fire does seem to be contained towards one end of the town. Our Grandson was evacuated safely to one of the Oil Sands camps.

  6. Anne is safe and well in a hotel, but doesn't know yet about her home. So keeping fingers crossed about that too.
